Lent and Covid-19

On April 8, 2020 Bishop John Doerfler issued an update to his directives to parishes throughout the Diocese of Marquette. Click HERE to read the Bishop's letter. The St. Michael Parish church and office is currently closed and all Masses, meetings and gatherings have been suspended through April 30.

The Sacrament of Penance may be celebrated at outdoor confession stations. St. Michael's will send details on this soon. If you are in need of confession please phone the parish at 228-8180 or email Fr. Greg at or Fr. Brandon at

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick may be celebrated in a home and on an individual basis for those who are seriously ill. Please see the above contact info.

Here is a link to the diocesan website where Bishop John provides suggestions to help us through this time of uncertainty:

Give - Respect Life Diaper Drive

The Respect Life Committee is hosting a diaper drive for the Marquette Care Clinic.

The goal is to collect 3456 diapers or 144 packs.  There are

shopping carts available in the Gathering Space for donations.

Pray - Stations of the Cross

Every Friday during Lent. 12:15 PM

and Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 6:15 PM

Give - Resurrection Baskets

Throughout the season of Lent parishioners and their families are invited to fill laundry baskets located in the parish Gathering Space with cleaning supplies. Participants in the project can donate one item or fill a basket if they are moved to do so. Every bit helps.

Sr. Lud distributes the donations after Holy Week to families in need. Just in time for Spring Cleaning!

Shopping Lists are available soon in the Parish Gathering Space

Fast - Ash Wednesday

Mass Times: 8 AM & 7 PM. (No 5:15 Mass today)

If you are unable to make it to Mass there is someone in the office available to distribute ashes all day (9 AM-4 PM)

Pray - Worship Lenten Masses Liturgical Music and Environment

Environment: Our worship space for Lent is deliberately subdued in character for this liturgical season. Violet is the liturgical color representing penitence. Simple bare branches in vases dress the Worship Space rather than flowers.

Music:  During Lent we ponder our poverty and brokenness. Pope Francis asks us “to see the poor with new eyes and to act powerfully on their behalf”. One of the ways we do this is by allowing ourselves to experience a sense of longing and emptiness by using less music and more silence for reflection. During Lent, we will depart in silence after the final blessing. The Gloria and Alleluia are not sung during Lent and we have chosen to sing the Mass that is sung at our weekday Masses in the Diocesan Hymnal. How glorious it will be to hear our beautiful worship music at the Great Easter Vigil and on Easter Sunday!

Pray - Lenten Resources for Study and Action

Check out the table in the Gathering Space. Materials are available now. If you have the Parish App on your mobile phone a special Lenten Reflections button has been added. Don't have the app? Click on "Parish App"  below to download it on your phone now.

Pray - the Rosary

Rosary every Thursday after the 8 AM morning Mass in the Adoration Chapel behind the Sanctuary

Give - Operation Rice Bowl

They can also be dropped off in the Parish Office. For more information about Catholic Relief Services-Operation Rice Bowl 2019 Click on the  Rice Bowl photo.
